Thanks for joining!
My husband Terry and I have lived in Plaint Township for about twelve years now. Our two boys attend New Albany/Plain Local schools. My law practice is located in the heart of "old" New Albany across from Eagle Pizza in the old Mason's lodge - Demers & Adams, LLC.

Although I'm not particularly "political," I've decided to run for Plain Township Trustee in November. My kids are old enough now that I have the time to devote to the job of representing our citizens. I am interested in the job because I believe I can make a difference. Of paramount importance to me is promoting a cooperative relationship between the various stakeholders in our community: the township, the school district and the village, all while protecting the best interests of the township. No one citizen is more important than the other - whether they own a split level on one half acre or a large commercial property, we're all interested in protecting our property interests and we all have rights that deserve respect. If I am chosen for the job, I understand that I will be responsible for being a good steward of our tax dollars and that people will hold me accountable. I think I'm up for the job. I will listen before I speak and when I speak I will tell the truth.

Thank you

I would like to thank This Week and the other sponsors for hosting the candidates night on October 12, 2009. The questions were challenging and the answers were interesting. Because of the time limits, I suspect that there were some questions that didn't get asked. If anyone has additional questions on Township issues, I'd be glad to respond here. It was great meeting everyone and thanks to all who expressed their support for my candidacy for trustee.

New Albany History

The Plain Township and New Albany area was settled in 1810 by Noble Landon, who moved to central Ohio from St. Albans, Vt.
Almost 30 years later, Landon and William Yantes of Maryland laid out the village of New Albany, which was centered around Landon’s tavern and inn on High and Main streets.
The village, which had a population of about 50, was chartered in 1856.
In the 1990s, local businessman and philanthropist Les Wexner moved to New Albany with the vision of good schools, recreational spaces and detailed community planning.
He formed the New Albany Co. to oversee land purchases and development to ensure a steady commercial tax base for the village and the New Albany-Plain Local School District.
Today, New Albany is home to over 7,000 people, and Plain Township has over 800 households.
The New Albany Business Park hosts some of the nation’s biggest companies, such as Abercrombie and Fitch, Tween Brands, American Electric Power and Commercial Vehicle Group.
The New Albany-Plain School District, which covers 26 square miles of New Albany, Plain Township and a portion of Columbus, has been rated “excellent” by the Ohio Department of Education for the last three years.
