VOTE (special the chicken thanks you for your support of a special candidate who saved her life)

i have been calling on my personal opinions, asking people to vote for / against measures about which i feel strongly. and almost all are not voting. WHAT?????????? i am shocked and saddened that this is the response, but it seems to be common. excuses abound, and in this state absentee is legal for all. There is NO EXCUSE GOOD ENOUGH - ok, a couple maybe- i missed voting a few times in my life, my son was in hospital, my mom was dying, etc- Otherwise, i vote. Please, this year take your kids. T… Continue

Fall is here- time to set up your bird feeders!

Please, take the time and make the effort to keep feeders stocked. Provide fresh water, too. They use paths of flight set over decades, and we take their resting space for our homes. So, the least we can do is offer up shelter and a few seeds to set them back on their path south. For those feathered ones who make Ohio home year round, finding food in winter is difficult, as natural berries and seeds are gone to manicured lawns. For the tiny feathered ones, put out a bit of seed. Your reward is w… Continue

thanks Kroger-

i will explain- i am crippled from lupus etc- yesterday my son in calif needed a piece of paper faxed- it was after 6pm, and I called and Kroger agreed to do it for me. Now, see the crippled part, i had to walk to Kroger because son took my car , Our family car, to Calif. I am carless, and crippled. So, cane in hand i walked through the wetlands to Kroger. There at customer service the manager smiled and said hello and i was helped by a young clerk. She was concerned, as i am standing there with… Continue

Ah, watching them grow and hoping the hail and hard rain passes gently leaves me wanting summer forever. I just want to thank the folks who are attempting to teach the children to appreciate nature. The task is not easy in a society where solar clothes dryers are banned in many communnities, gardens can't be planted because of landscaping rules, and new this / that / and something else defines the person. If a new item is "green" and you still have a usable older item, it is no longer green, as… Continue

The Best Light Show in Town

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/30/science/30firefly.html?_r=1&ref=global-home

this is a link to a nytimes article on bugs- ok, special bugs-

and this is really the best light show in town- i was wondering what a fairly new rescue cat was doing at the balcony door the other night- kathump- kathump- then, slowly it dawned on me. We played laser games with her, and she thought the bugs outside were laser games- and she was deeply frustrated that she was blocked from chasing them by the glass.… Continue

This is a test to see if I can type in MS Word a Blog Post and do a Copy and Paste of the larger script into the YOUR NEW ALBANY BLOG, in order to avoid typographical errors due to the small blog type font size.

I know! The really horrible part of it, and the part that I didn't write on my post, was that my dog tore up a plastic bin and I found blood on it. I checked him all over to make sure he wasn't bleeding when I got home, but I couldn't find anything. I figure his gums started bleeding when he broke through the hard plastic. My number is 614.264.4675.

The dog was awful! I was so angry when I got home. We just don't know what to do with him! He won't do well with a cage. We've tried locking the doors so he can't get into room, but then he tears up the carpet! We've thought about sedation, but with these pop-up thunderstorms, we'd have to sedate him all the time! Any ideas?

New Albany History

The Plain Township and New Albany area was settled in 1810 by Noble Landon, who moved to central Ohio from St. Albans, Vt.
Almost 30 years later, Landon and William Yantes of Maryland laid out the village of New Albany, which was centered around Landon’s tavern and inn on High and Main streets.
The village, which had a population of about 50, was chartered in 1856.
In the 1990s, local businessman and philanthropist Les Wexner moved to New Albany with the vision of good schools, recreational spaces and detailed community planning.
He formed the New Albany Co. to oversee land purchases and development to ensure a steady commercial tax base for the village and the New Albany-Plain Local School District.
Today, New Albany is home to over 7,000 people, and Plain Township has over 800 households.
The New Albany Business Park hosts some of the nation’s biggest companies, such as Abercrombie and Fitch, Tween Brands, American Electric Power and Commercial Vehicle Group.
The New Albany-Plain School District, which covers 26 square miles of New Albany, Plain Township and a portion of Columbus, has been rated “excellent” by the Ohio Department of Education for the last three years.
