i will explain- i am crippled from lupus etc- yesterday my son in calif needed a piece of paper faxed- it was after 6pm, and I called and Kroger agreed to do it for me. Now, see the crippled part, i had to walk to Kroger because son took my car , Our family car, to Calif. I am carless, and crippled. So, cane in hand i walked through the wetlands to Kroger. There at customer service the manager smiled and said hello and i was helped by a young clerk. She was concerned, as i am standing there with my cane, a cold sweat from pain washed over me, my face was purple, and at that juncture she offered to take me Home! What? Yes, she offered to drive me home. I explained that i lived a ten minute walk (about a half hour for me) and it was ok, I was ok, and everything was ok, but she still offered. When it came time to pay they waived the fee, and wished me well. How often are you treated with respect if you are older and walk with a cane? Almost never. But, at Kroger on a busy Sunday evening, i was treated with respect, AND kindness. From a manager And from a clerk. Now that is customer service, and deserves a special thank you. I did make it home before dark, watched the bats flying the wetlands for their evening snack, and survived the journey.
